Curly Women Are Not Born Beautiful

Curly Women Are Not Born Beautiful

“She is so beautiful. I love her smile and her curly hair. I wish I could look like her.”

That was the first thing I could think of when seeing a woman with curly hair. And when I understood the essence behind Curly Hair & Beauty, I broke free from that mentality.

Today’s topic is to reveal why women’s beauty goes beyond their curly hair, yet, it is strongly related to it. Also, I would like to reveal why women with curly hair are not born beautiful.

What You See (What I could perceive)

When I looked at women with curly hair, I could see many qualities that I lacked and I was reaching them in the wrong way. Qualities such as freedom, confidence, self-love, self-esteem, charm, brightness, courage, elegance, freshness, acceptance, independence, and complete happiness, were the ones that I could sense from a curly-haired woman. And although I wanted those things for myself, I couldn’t have them. I thought that in order to look confident, happy, or beautiful, I had to have their same body type or face shape. Maybe, I had to be born that way. However, after years of dealing with my “inner demons”, I could see with clarity that this thing of curly hair girls being born beautiful, is completely false.

Then, what made them look so Curly & Beautiful?

A bit of history

If you take a look at the history of curly hair, you’ll be able to find the answer to it. Once perceived as sin and evil, curly hair wasn’t always as acknowledged as it is today. Back in the day if you had curly hair, you could either use a flat iron or do braids on it. There wasn’t such a thing like curly hair products, and curly hair wasn’t part of society’s beauty standards.

After this, curly hair started to have greater recognition. With the black is beautiful movement in the 1960s and the natural hair movement in the early 2000s, curly hair was finally recognized as beautiful. Women with curly hair were able to embrace their natural hair and to break free from society’s expectation of beauty.

Said this, now let’s talk about what makes curly hair women look so gorgeous.

Now, the actual reason

The reason why women with curly hair look so beautiful is because of the process they had to go through.

These women had to accept they had curly hair, and that they were taking care of it in the wrong way. Most of them had to do the Big Chop. After you do the big chop, you need to wait for it to grow (and believe me when I say that it takes a while for it to do so). In the process, you will learn the proper way to take care of your hair. You will have to forget everything you already knew because these bad habits were the ones that damaged your hair in the first place. Also, you will have to learn how to accept the way you look with your new hairstyle and to embrace it.

Women with curly hair were exposed! They didn’t have their long “straight” hair to protect them anymore. And this is what happened to women with curly hair:

“What does not kills you makes you stronger.”

These women learned to be confident, have self-esteem and self-love, and ultimately, this is what you can see reflected on the pictures of many women with curly hair. You can see the courage, freedom, and the happiness of finally accepting who they were.

Conclusion

In the long run, this is what makes women with curly hair look flawless. They aren’t born that way and is not because curly hair will make them look automatically beautiful. It is simply due to the process they had to go through, which made them look gorgeous and changed their thoughts about themselves.

Are you still in the process, o are you part of these curly-haired women?
