curly hair is too much

Curly Hair is Too Much Work!

It’s amusing to see how many people out there still complaining about this. Ever since I started to take care of my curly hair (back in 2012), I’ve heard this phrase over and over again. And to be honest with you, ladies and gentlemen, I’m sort of tired of this phrase.

“Curly Hair is Too Much Work.” “Why do I have to apply too many products.” “Why can’t I simply wake up and start my day right away (like straight-haired people do), instead of dealing with the beast (curly hair)?”

These are just a few of the common complains I’ve heard of many people out there. And usually, these people still struggling to decide whether or not to embrace their curly hair or to embrace the illusion of having straight hair.

Natural Curly Hair or Unnatural Straight Hair?

I understand that curly hair (in the beginning) is confusing and might be kind of tedious. However, when you do it every day, eventually you will get used to it, and you will love the fact that you are doing all this work towards healthier hair.

Before I started to truly embrace my natural hair, I had a hard time with my unnatural hair. Straightening my hair, making sure humidity didn’t ruin all my efforts, and applying different moisturizing and heat protective products into my hair, was hard for me. Also, I had to use dangerous products into my hair so my curl could be more relaxed. And I had to do this if I wanted to get something close to having straight healthy-looking hair.

However, I did all this, but in the end, all my efforts didn’t pay off. My hair and self-esteem were beyond damaged.

Conclusion

To conclude, I would like to tell you something.

Do not give up on your hair!

I know that this journey is not comfortable still is not impossible. Once you achieve it, you will see that it was worth it, and you will feel happy with yourself. You will also be more confident and see life more positively.

What logic does it have to try to make your hair what it is not? Your hair is what it is. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to straighten it or leave it naturally curly, you are going to spend equal amount of time and dedication. The difference is that one is going to help your hair and self-esteem grow healthier, and the other is going to destroy them both.

I would like to know how do you feel about your hair. Is it going well, or are you still struggling with it? Are you thinking about giving up?

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! Also, if you want to keep in touch with me, and see more great content like this, make sure to subscribe to my Email List and follow me on Instagram.

As someone with really long hair, I understand the struggle. It is work to keep it all healthy and manageable, but once you commit to it and get into a routine, it is not that hard. Keep doing what is good for you and your hair and it will be so rewarding!

I agree that curly hair is a lot of work, I have been on my natural hair journey for a while and have had my fair share of damaged ends. I agree that embracing your natural hair is the best choice and I think that all women should try rocking their natural hair atleast once in their lifetime!

  11. Superb blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost
on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free
platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so
many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed ..
    Any suggestions? Kudos!

Hello! When it comes to writing, I suggest you write about something that you love. I found this the hard way, but when you write about what you love, you will find it easy and pleasant. When it comes to the paid or free version, if you have the money, I will say, Go for the paid version. You will draw more traffic and faster (you will have more tools), but if you don’t, start free and learn from your mistakes, then upgrade. – Wish you the best, J’s Curly & Elegant.
